Using Social Media in Your Content Marketing

Content marketing is one of the most important and effective marketing tactics you can use. Content drives visitors to your website, so it makes sense to blend your content marketing efforts with your social media efforts for a more powerful strategy.

Here are some tips to integrate your content marketing and social media efforts.

Linking to your content with social media. Every time you publish something, you should link to it from your social media accounts. You can test to see if a catchy headline grabs more attention in social media or if you should use a short paragraph to get them interested. You may even want to pose it in the form of a question with a link back to the content that answers the question.

There are several ways to get attention. See which one works best for your followers or use a mixture.

Use social media buttons on your site. There are many plug-ins that you can add to integrate social media buttons within each blog post. One of my favorites is Sexy Bookmarks. It’s very easy to use and has many options you can set.

Using a call to action in your signature can also entice people to share your content. You can add something like, “If you like this content, please share it with others.”

Article marketing is another great way to drive traffic to your site. Be sure to add some social media links in your bio so that people can find you and start following you.

Publish articles on social media sites. Places like Facebook will allow you to publish quite a bit of content. If you have a personal page, can publish these as notes. Check all of your social media sites to see how much content you can post. Twitter only allows 140 characters, but it can be used to link to longer content.

Content is not only a great way to market yourself but it’s also a great way to grow your social media connections. You can choose to drive people to an opt in page, an About Me page or a page that lists where they can find you on social networks. The possibilities with content are endless.

Adding social media to your efforts only enhances your marketing efforts. Make sure you integrate your content marketing and social media efforts. Always get the best possible use out of your content and strive to make it work for you. Implementing social media is just one way to attract more attention.

Also remember to integrate your current marketing plan with new ideas and strategies. Start by planning your content and your social media endeavors so they can work together.
